East Coast

a bootleg recording of the debut foxymorons: east coast show has surfaced out on the web. our friend zac collier of speczacular studios captured the entire evening in true dead-head trade-trading fashion. check out the mp3 of the newly re-worked “going down”.

Superdrag/Deathray Davies

the superdrag/deathray show was a blast. thanks to all who came to see us. we’ve just added a new nashville show. if jerry can’t make it it will be billed as “foxymorons: east coast” instead of a david solo acoustic show.

Trees – Dallas, TX

so the foxymorons played a hometown show at trees last friday opening for the deathray davies and superdrag. david practiced with a nashville drummer, mike, all week and drove down from nashville at 7pm getting to mesquite around 6am. our friend craig learned his bass parts by himself (what a pro). jackson (our pal who screams, sings high harmony, plays keyboards and tamborine) did a great job. apparently, i was the only one who didn’t practice and the band gave me heck for it. we practiced on the day of the show at david’s house. i brought in a new song, georgetown, and everyone picked it up really quick. david’s mom makes the best iced tea in the world, by the way. and afterwards she fed us with a huge spread of food. thanks miss doris. soundcheck was at 7:00. i hate that stuff. left sideways and ten x rocked in my humble opinion. oh, and we played new songs. i just wrote one called “the walmart song” or “harvard” or “georgetown hands” depending on the day/hour. you guys should just vote on the title – but i’m leaning towards “dartmouth hands” these days. here’s the setlist from the night:

left sideways

august moon

hesitation eyes (new!)

georgetown (new!)

terror on the tarmac (new!)

almost active

lazy librarian’s son (new!)

irene

ten x

the deathray davies were really fun to watch.

Dallas Show

we’re playing in dallas next week with superdrag and the deathray davies. new nashville shows are in the works as well. the album recording has been sparse. happy thanksgiving!

Studio Weekend

i’m ready to rock! i put in a hard day at work, cashed my check, and headed to the store. stocked up on pizzas, waffles, and drinks. it’s a foxymoron weekend and i ain’t leaving the house. i plan to cut my 5 songs for the album this weekend. we cut 8 of jerry’s songs back in august when i bought the recording gear. i’ve spent the last few months figuring out how to use it and adding the finishing touches to his songs. now it’s my turn. wish me luck.

Crummy

we still have crummy tshirts and stuff availble at cafe press. it’s pretty cool to see people around town wearing foxymorons gear. too bad they’re our moms.

Web

it’s been a while since i posted. i moved the website to a new server over the weekend. hopefully all the links still work. let us know if you can’t download an mp3 or if you run into any crazy errors. the new server should allow for more mp3s to be posted! so that’s a good thing. i think i’ve finished two of the jerry songs for the new record. we both seem to be pretty happy with the results. i’m getting really close on some other ones. he basically left me with 8 songs in various stages of completion. one of these days i’ll dive into my songs for the record. i say he and me when really they are both of our songs. i’m just referring to the lead singer of the song to keep things straight. we’re a band ya know. we’ll, i guess that’s all for now. i’m going to the slow bar tonight to see gary louris from the jayhawks play a solo show. that should be great. this weekend denton’s centro-matic are in town but i might be on a road trip with verde so i might miss it. darn.

Piling Up

eight jerry songs down and five more david songs to go. recording will resume later next month in nashville. we’re looking for a new label to put out this album.

Home Studio

jerry will be arriving in nashville in exactly two weeks. i’m getting excited. i purchased some recording gear yesterday. i’m working out the details of our show. i made flyers for the show. i’ve sent the setlist to the band. now i just have to figure out how to use the recording equipment before jerry arrives. yikes!

Nashville Show

tell your friends and neighbors. we’re playing a full-on rock show in august. jerry is headed to nashville for an extended weekend full of arranging, honky tonkin’, recording, sightseeing, and rocking. he arrives on wednesday the 8th and we’ll be doing all sorts of music stuff until he departs on the 12th. we’ve recruited lux liner scott, ex-liner chad, and jackson chang to serve as our backing band. we’re honored to be so lucky.
